Lisenby Primary School, formerly Lisenby Elementary School, was built in 1966 and is located on 860 Faust Avenue in Ozark, Alabama. Lisenby Primary School was created due to the closing of the first all kindergarten school in the state of Alabama (Thompkins Early Childhood Center) at the end of the 2014-15 school year. The site was designated as an early childhood school for students from Pre-K through 2nd grade. Lisenby Primary School houses approximately 500 students per year in grades PreK through second grade. There are 3 pre-school classes, 23 regular classrooms in grades K-2, one self-contained special education unit, and two additional special education teachers who service our students. Lisenby has 2 speech pathologists, 1 music teacher, I media specialist, 1 reading coach, 2 physical education teachers and an aide, two intervention teachers, a school counselor, two custodians, a lunchroom staff, and several teacher assistants. The school office consists of a principal, assistant principal, a secretary/bookkeeper, and an assistant to the secretary. Lisenby is fortunate to have a fully furnished computer lab, a media center with student laptops for research and projects, and classrooms that contain either an interactive tv panel or a Smart Board along with at least 2 student computers.

The mission of Lisenby Primary School is very similar to our school district’s vision of “Students Who Soar Like Eagles.” L= Learning and Leading, P= Positively Progressing, S= Successfully Soaring

At Lisenby, we view ourselves as eagles who are beginning the journey to life-long learning. We welcome you to visit our school to see all of the great things that are going on at our primary center!
